Restaurant Loop is a cozy bistro style restaurant located by the sea in the peaceful Lapinlahti area of Helsinki.
The space is designed by Carl Ludvig Engel and finished by 1841. The building is a former mental hospital in cultural historic surrounding. There are a spacious garden and a park surrounding the building.
Restaurant Loop is the first restaurant in Finland using selected surplus products from supermarkets as its main ingredients, fighting against climate change and food waste for sustainable development. The supermarket leftovers are way too good quality to be thrown out, so our own food courier is delivering the surplus from our fixed merchants to the restaurant. The chefs will be choosing the raw materials each day. Every day is like a top chef -challenge, our chefs will be creating daily variating delicates from the available products and turn them into most delicious vegetarian dishes. The rest of the groceries will be donated to charities.
Lunch and brunch will always be served as plated dishes. Because of the style of the restaurant, seasonal products are the most used raw materials. Also a lot of organic and locally produced raw materials are used. The combination of high quality service and food - and the joy and cheer of cooking are the key elements for the personal to enjoy the work.
Restaurant also organizes private occasions and provide catering services.
